Mix path can be incredibly healthy snack, rich in antioxidants, good fats and fiber. Instead of paying an arm and a leg for them at the supermarket, I suggest you make your own. Here's how:
Ingredients
There are three basic types of ingredients are used: dried fruit, nuts and sweets.
Dried Fruit
Dried fruits contain many of the nutrients contained in fruits, although in smaller quantities. They taste a little 'different than theirfresh counterparts, so even if you do not like a certain type of fruit, you can use the dry version.
Get unsweetened dried fruit, if possible. You can look behind and see the ingredients, if sugar is added, and check the label to see how many grams of sugar it contains. Choose one or two dried fruits from this list:
Pineapple
Raisins
Apricots
Cranberries
Flaked coconut (not dried)
Bananas
Dice
Nuts are rich in monounsaturated fat and healthypolyunsaturated fats, fiber, antioxidants and proteins. Enter for unsalted and raw (not roasted) nuts to maximize health. Choose one or two varieties of nuts from this list:
Pecan
Pistachios
Walnuts
Almonds
Macadamia nuts
Sunflower seeds
Cashews
Peanuts
Candy
Add some 'candy makes the mixture more satisfying your sweet tooth. Then, if you have a craving for something sweet, you can grab some trail mix instead of cake, ice cream, or aCookies. Drops of dark chocolate are a good choice, because they are rich in antioxidants and contain less sugar. Select only one from the following list:
Dark chocolate-chips
Dark chocolate chips
White chocolate flakes
Butterscotch chips

Put It Together
Here is a simple recipe:
1 cup nuts
1 cup of a different kind of dried fruit
1 cup dried fruit
1 cup of dried fruit other
1 cup candy
If you would just kind of dried fruit, thenuse two cups to keep the ratio equal. The above formula gives you a good variety of flavors without having to buy twenty different ingredients.
You can experiment with different combinations to see what you like best. Every time you go to the supermarket, buy a different type of nut or dried fruit and mix with other ingredients you already have.
My favorite recipe is:
1 cup pecans
1 cup almonds
1 cup pineapple
1 cup blueberries
1 cup dark chocolateChips
Remember, even if this is healthy stuff, it's all thanks to the dense calories of nuts. Do not you want to eat too much. A half-cup serving is good and makes a great snack in the afternoon, held up for dinner.
